French Prime Minister François Bairou survived yet another censure proposal on Tuesday, thanks to the support he received from Lepen’s far -right MPs who refused to participate in his attempt to overthrow him.
The development was expected, as the national rally had implied since last week that it would not support the censure proposal submitted by the center -left Socialist Party after the shipwreck of the retirement system reform.
Bayrou, however, remains in the right -wing bishops. This is because although far -right leader Marin Lepen has stated that it would be “zero” the benefit of the government’s fall to this moment, its allies have implied that they could pursue the government’s dismissal during the talks.
The government is seeking 40 billion euros to reduce the deficit, but France’s fragmented parliament remains deeply divided on how to settle the country’s public finances.
The government is expected to present its first policy proposals later this month, in view of the parliamentary debate in the fall.
