Russia calls Azerbaijan to restore links with Moscow

The diplomatic conflict began last week after the deaths of two Azeris during police raids in Russia and escalated after arresting two Russian journalists working for Russian state media and about 15 Russians as suspects for drug trafficking.
Azerbaijan says that the necropsy in Baku for the two men who died in Russia showed that they were beaten to death – although Moscow said one of them had died of heart problems – and that authorities in Baku began their own research.
Relations between the two countries remain strained by the end of last year, when 38 people were killed after Azerbaijan’s crash headed by Baku to southern Russia. Baku says the crash was caused by an anti -aircraft defense units in Russia.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zaharova said today that Moscow has been cultivating its relationship with Baku for many years based on mutual respect and implied that unknown factors are now trying to use the situation to “rub their hands”.
“Just don’t let them fire,” she told Sputnik Radio in an interview. “Because for us, for the two peoples, friendship relationships are extremely important. And those who want to spoil them have to think carefully about what they are doing. “
He later stated in informing reporters that Baku would have to restore his links with Russia, complaining that Moscow has no consular access to its detainees.
“We, of course, call on the Azeri side to take steps to return our links to the level of transnational relationships, as defined in the official documents. Let me remind you that this is the level of strategic cooperation, “he said.
The Kremlin has stated that Russia aims to negotiate the release of its journalists, who are accused of fraud and other crimes and have been in custody in Baku.
