“How many of you are you satisfied with the results of the research on Estain?” The well -known commentator at Fox News, Laura Ingraham, were asked by the conferences of young conservatives organized by the Turning Point USA over -conservative organization. The answer, according to the Washington Post, was a prolonged and intense “joke”.
Jeffrey Estain, recalled, was a former financial adviser with strong links, who was found dead in 2019 in a prison cell in Manhattan, while facing federal charges for minors. He was repeatedly charged with abuse and exploitation of underage girls, and had admitted his guilt in 2008 for the charges he had been brought to Florida for promoting children in prostitution and for prompting prostitution.
His name was linked to high profile faces: former US President Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew of the British Royal Family, Bill Gates, former Victoria’s Secret CEO, Leslie Wexner, and lawyer Alan Dersova. His personal notebook contained dozens of sound names from Hollywood, Wall Street and Washington between them and that of Donald Trump.
Although Trump was part of Estain’s dating cycle, a conspiracy theory flourished in the environment of the Maga movement: that Estain maintained a secret list of his clients and used it to manipulate corrupt government officials and other celebrities. Conspiracy theory also argued that Estain’s death was not suicide. On the contrary, he was murdered in his cell so as not to speak.
Last week, the FBI and the Ministry of Justice, led by two people appointed by Trump, who had once helped to subdue the rumors of Estain, issued a memorandum stating that a thorough survey by the services concluded that he did not conclude that he did not find.
The memorandum landed within the Maga faithful such as the Covid-19 vaccine: they completely rejected it and instead demanded the resignation of Attorney General Pam Bodi. Tucker Carlson, an experienced theoretical conspiracy, commented on his podcast that Bodi, who had contributed to the dissemination of Conspiracy for Estain, is now “hunting crimes, very serious crimes according to her own.”
As all this happened, Bodi continued to liquidate the Ministry of Justice, removing officials involved in the investigation into the January 6th invasion of the Capitol. Axios reported on Friday that 20 of its employees, who participated in both January 6 and investigating the way Trump handled confidential documents, were fired. The siege of January 6th was broadcast live, recorded with cameras and documented extensively, but Trump’s supporters have downgraded its importance and role, choosing to reinforce the paranoid theories of Estain. Carlson himself has repeatedly presented January 6th as a “False Flag” operation orchestrated by authorities to trap Trump’s supporters.
And here’s the problem: When no one knows what conspiracy theory to believe, and you belong to a movement guided by conspiracy about science, education, economics, weather, government, the world and reality, then two things happen: they appear in the sect and the members.
That’s exactly what seems to be happening now. Dan Bodzino, a well -known provocateur in the Estain case before Trump appointed him a deputy FBI’s deputy, is allegedly threatened with resignation due to his dissatisfaction with how Bodi handled the case. To get confused even more, Bodzino was initially aligned with Bodi in the review, but this alliance dissolved when criticism of the Maga camp began. FBI director Ms Patel, Bodzino’s head, was also a supporter of the conspiracy for Estain before Trump put him at the top of American justice. Who finally knows which place will take in this fight between infants, but at the moment seems to support Bodi. So complicated. So conspiracy. So stupid waste of taxpayers ‘money and voters’ attention.
And developments continue. On Saturday, Michael Flyn, a former Trump national security adviser, posted a message on social media, warning the president that “the issue of Estain is not going to disappear”. Ilon Musk, who had once written and then deleted that Trump’s name was referring to government archives for Estain. He also expressed the same view on Saturday, saying that Trump could put an end to Maga’s internal war if “he was simply publicizing the records, as he had promised.”
Trump himself, who has been selling conspiracy theories for years, is never one of those who stay outside such a fight, especially when he threatens his own political alliance. On Saturday night he tried to relieve the crisis with a post on his platform and a patchwork of new conspiracies, defending Bodi.
“We’re a team, Maga, and I don’t like what’s going on. We have a perfect government, the miracle of the world, and ‘selfish’ people are trying to hurt it, for a dying guy, Jeffrey Estain. For years, only endangered, again and again. Why do we publicity in archives written by Obama, corrupt Hillary, Comey, Brennan and the losers and criminals of the Biden government? “
“Why didn’t these records go crazy? If there was anything that could hurt the Maga movement, why didn’t they use it? … Ms Patel and the FBI have to focus on research on electoral fraud, political corruption, actblue, distorted and stolen elections of 2020 and capture trumpets and criminals. … Let’s keep it like that, and let’s not waste time and energy to Jeffrey Estain, a guy who no one cares about anymore. “
Trump, of course, has as powerful motivation as any other than the cycle of Estain to keep the mouths closed. As it was pointed out in my article in 2019, for a while, his relationship with Estain was more than friendly.
Estain was a member of Trump’s Mar-A-Lago Club in Palm Beach and were often dining in each other’s house. Trump has fallen many times with Estain’s private plane. According to journalist Julie Brown of Miami Herald, Estain had told judicial documents that he wanted to set up a modeling agency “in the same way that Trump had set up his own”, something that prosecutors regarded as a means of approaching minors.
Although, according to a lawsuit, Estain was eventually removed from Mar-a-Lago when he approached a minor girl there, Trump had spoken warmly about him both to me and others. In 2002 he told New York Magazine: “I know him for 15 years. Amazing guy. It’s a lot of fun. They even say that they like beautiful women as well as to me and many of them are young. “
I believe that Trump’s motivation now to “eradicate” the case of Estain is mainly political. Its base is frustrated by the exceptions it makes in deportations for areas such as agriculture and housing dependent on irregular migrants. They are also annoyed with the prospect of sending another military aid to Ukraine to withstand the war with Russia. And they are very annoyed that the conspiracy theory of Estain seems to collapse.
Charlie Kerk, founder of the Conservative Organization Turning Point USA, told the Washington Post during a three -day conference that Trump is risking his base ahead of the next year’s intermediate elections. “The excitement I saw for younger voters can disappear,” he said, likening the loss of energy to “leaving the air from a balloon.”
If this is the case, and if the internal controversy continues in the midst of an economy threatened by destabilizing tariff policies, Trump may need to learn the lesson: the tornadoes you are giving birth to politically, at some point swallow you.
