German Economy Minister: Germany will become poorer because of the war, but the price is small

by

Economy and Climate Policy Minister Robert Habeck has warned that his country – Europe’s largest economy – will be hit after the war in Ukraine. Economy Minister Robert Hambek bluntly told the public broadcaster ZDF on Wednesday that “We will be poorer.”

“It’s not possible history to end at no cost to German society is unthinkable. “I think we are ready to pay that price, which is quite small compared to the suffering in Ukraine.”

“We are paying [ένα] high price, a price that is not comparable to the price paid by Ukrainians. “They are dying, they are being displaced, they are being bombed, they are being bombed, we have high inflation,” Habeck said.

On Wednesday, Germany issued a precautionary measure “Early warning” for possible gas shortages, as Russia said it wanted to be paid in rubles and threatened to cut off supplies if that did not happen. The West has told Moscow that energy supplies from Russia will only be paid in euros or US dollars.
