The hostilities at the border of Cambodia and Thailand have claimed the lives of at least 33 people on both sides of the border, according to the most recent, today’s official reports of the victims, while the Penn was demanding that Bangkok “immediate cease”.
The conflict over domination in border areas, which lasts decades, was diverted Thursday into battles with the involvement of fighter aircraft, tanks, artillery and land forces – at the worst level of violence of the last decades, worse than 2011.
Today the Cambodian Ministry of Defense announced that 13 people were killed and another 71 were injured on the Cambodian side.
The Thai army said, for its part, that five soldiers were killed Friday, increasing the official report of the victims to the 20 dead on the Thai side – 14 civilians and six soldiers.
The victims’ report has now surpassed that of the previous series of conflicts of the two states, from 2008 to 2011 (28 dead).
The two sides spoke of new hostilities around 05:00 (local time; 01:00 Greek time). Pnom Pen accused the Thai Armed Forces of hitting “five heavy artillery shells” in the Porosat province.
Conflicts forced to leave their homes in areas near the border of over 138,000 people in Thailand and 35,000 more in Cambodia.

Following the meeting behind the UN Security Council in New York, Cambodia ambassador to the Chi KEB organization said his country wants a ceasefire.
“Cambodia demanded an immediate ceasefire unconditionally and we also called on a peaceful resolution of the conflict,” he told the press.
Prior to the SA meeting, Thailand did not exclude negotiations, with a possible mediator Malaysia.
Malaysia exercises the current period of the alternating presidency of the Southeast Asian State Association (ASEAN), whose two warring sides are members.
“We are ready if Cambodia wants this issue to be resolved through the diplomatic path, in a bilateral way, or even by the mediation of Malaysia, we are ready to do so. But so far we have not received any answer, “the Thai Foreign Ministry spokesman Nikordes Balankouras told the French Agency.
Earlier, Thailand’s transitional prime minister, Plumtham Wettsagia, warned that the escalation of conflicts could be turned into a “war”.
The two sides accuse one another of opening fire first. Thailand complains that Cambodia has targeted political infrastructure, including hospital and fuel service station. Cambodia, on the other hand, complains that Thailand used ammunition.
“How can the Thai) blame us, a small country with an army that is of a submersible size (by their own), who has no aviation”, that we “attacked the big neighbor,” the Cambodian ambassador in the United Nations asked.
According to Chi KEB, the Security Council “called on the two parties to restrain – in maximum restraint – and find a diplomatic solution. That’s what we ask for. “
These battles between the two kingdoms have been a serious escalation of their borders for decades for their borders – more than 800 kilometers – that had been engraved during the French occupation of the old Indochina.
A decision of the International Court of Justice (DD) in the Hague in 2013 in theory solved the problem, but this settlement eventually lasted only twelve years. The current crisis began in May, with the death of the Khmer Soldier in an exchange of fire night in May in a claimed area known as the “Emerald Triangle”.
