A battle broke out today between police and fighters of a paramilitary organization that includes Iran armed groups, killing at least one police officer and arresting 14 fighters, his authorities said. Iraq.

The conflicts broke out in the Karch district of Baghdad, when a group of fighters of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) stormed into a building of the Ministry of Agriculture, while its new director was swearing, according to the interior ministry.

The PMFs, called Hassad-Al-Sabi, are an organization mainly involved in the Iraqi security forces. Its ranks also include groups supported by Iran.

According to the interior ministry, PMF fighters stormed the building, causing panic to officials who called the police. Sources of security services and three employees said the fighters wanted to stop replacing the former ministry director.

The announcement of the administration of joint ventures, which belongs to Prime Minister Mohammed Sia Al Sundani, confirms that the detainees are members of the PMF and were referred to justice. At least one police officer was killed and nine were injured in the clashes, according to police and hospital sources.

Sudani ordered the establishment of a committee that will investigate the event.

The detainees belong to PMF’s “Brigades 45 and 46”, according to the announcement. Both of these brigades are linked to Catabollah, an Iraq armed organization supported by Iran.
