Iranian President Massoud Pescian appointed Ali Laridzani, leading adviser to Supreme Iranian leader Ali Hameni, secretary of the country’s Supreme National Security Council, according to the semi -official Fars news agency on Tuesday.
It is recalled that on Sunday Iranian media reported that Iran’s Supreme Security Body approved on Sunday the establishment of a National Defense Council, following a short war with Israel in June, which was the most acute military challenge faced by Tehran.
“The new defense body will review defensive plans and enhance the capabilities of the Iranian armed forces in a central way,” the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council said, according to state media.
The defense Council will be chaired by Iranian President Massoud Pezkian and will consist of the heads of the three government scales, senior armed forces commanders and the relevant ministries.
On Sunday, Iranian army leader Amir Hatami warned that threats from Israel insist and should not be underestimated.
