The penitentiary reported that Bates woke up at 5:15 am on Tuesday morning and received three visitors – his daughter, sister and groom. He refused to receive a “last meal” and did not meet a spiritual adviser.
From the return of the death penalty to the US in 1976, the previous highest annual Florida executions were eight in 2014. This year, Florida has executed more people than any other state, followed by Texas and South Caroline, with four executions, with one each.

59 -year -old Curtis Windom is expected to be executed on August 28, while 63 -year -old David Pitman is scheduled to be executed on September 17.
So far, in 2025, 29 men have been executed in the US, and at least nine more executions are scheduled for seven states by the end of the year.
