The European Union is launching a new awareness campaign, entitled “Voices of Humanity”.

Through it it puts forward its catalytic role in funding humanitarian aid worldwide and highlights the basic principles that govern its response to crises: humanity, objectivity, impartiality and independence.

As humanitarian needs worldwide are constantly increasing, with more than 300 million people needing emergency aid in 2025, the EU remains steadily committed to its commitments. It always provides help with the real needs of every crisis and the protection of human life and dignity.

The campaign is designed to enhance understanding, pride and solidarity among EU citizens, with an emphasis on ages 20–40, while highlighting the human factor and values behind the EU humanitarian work.

“With this campaign, we seek to highlight the fundamental principles that govern the providing humanitarian aid from the EU. These are not abstract values. On the contrary, they are the foundations for the protection of human life, to empower every action and to ensure that help comes to those who need it, “said Zacharias Yakoumis, head of communications at the EU Directorate -General for Humanitarian Aid.

The “Voices of Humanity” campaign highlights the experiences of people who offer humanitarian aid and presents stories from the field, through documentaries, narratives on social media and collaborations with influencers. The message is clear: Every humanitarian action is governed by a commitment to respect for human dignity, even to the most difficult crises in the world.

The narrative of the campaign takes us to the daily lives of three workers involved in the provision of humanitarian aid and supported by the EU: Gaza, Ukraine and a Sudanese refugee settlement in Uganda. Through their own stories, a human look is revealed to the work that is done in environments full of challenges and dangers.

The campaign, which will run from August to December 2025, is being implemented in ten EU Member States: Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Italy and France.

The start of the campaign coincides with World Humanitarian Aid Day (August 19) – a symbolic moment for public awareness of the EU’s global humanitarian role and the recognition of the dedication of humanitarian workers worldwide.
