Prime Minister Rosen Zeliaskov said today that Bulgaria is one of the most ardent and active supporters of Ukraine’s integration into the EU, based on its principle of value, during a teleconference with Ukrainian counterpart Julia Sviridenko, the government said.
“We are ready to help Kiev in its European course by providing valuable experience in the accession process,” said Zeliaskov, who welcomed Ukraine’s strong commitment to basic EU -related reforms, especially in the context of existing challenges.
“Bulgaria firmly believes that the future of Ukraine is linked to the EU. European accession is a guarantee of prosperity for the whole region,” Zeliaskov said, according to the government’s statement. He expressed Sofia’s support in the opening of the first package of chapters of negotiations and emphasized the importance of Ukraine’s action plan for national minorities, calling the necessary element to open the first chapter of accession talks.
Zeliaskov reiterated his country’s steadfast support in Ukraine as part of the war. He welcomed all efforts to ensure a viable solution, including the strong commitment of US President Donald Trump’s government to end the Russian attack. Negotiations must be carried out on the basis of justice, sovereignty and security guarantees, ensuring that peace is not only the absence of war, but the foundation for long -term stability, security and prosperity in Europe and Ukraine.
The Bulgarian prime minister also underlined Sofia’s readiness to commit to Ukraine’s post -war recovery, reconstruction and reform efforts. Regional energy security and transport connectivity were also discussed.
On Tuesday, Zeliaskov spoke at the teleconference of the Heads of State and Government of EU Member States, which discussed the results of the Ukraine meeting, which took place in Washington on Monday. “Security guarantees should include steady support from both Europeans and Euro -Atlantic partners,” the prime minister said. “Bulgaria, with the EU partners and NATO allies, is ready to help achieve a timetable for a fair and lasting peace,” he said.
