Since the beginning of the war between Russia and Ukraine, the International Atomic Energy Organization (IEAEA) has warned of the possibility of nuclear disaster, mainly at the Zaporizia nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine, which has been in control of the Russian troops since March 2022.
On the Baltic coasts, Russian anti-aircraft defense intercepted 10 drones at the port of Ust-Luga, near St. Petersburg, while a fire broke out at a Russian company Novatek’s oil station, according to Regional Governor Alexander.
“Firefighters and the Ministry of Emergency Response are working to extinguish it”added to the Telegram.
In recent weeks, and as the talks on ending the war under the pressure of US President Donald Trump has intensified, Ukraine has launched dozens of drones against Russian territory. It mainly targets oil tanks in an effort to limit Moscow exports that greatly fund its military operations.
These attacks appear to be responsible for rising fuel prices in Russia, which has reached record level despite the ban on gasoline exports announced by the government.
The Russian Ministry of Energy attributes high prices “to seasonal rise in demand and agricultural work”, without referring to Ukrainian attacks.
On Friday, Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban said he sought Trump’s help in dealing with his country the difficulties of refueling Russian oil through the Druzba pipeline, which has bombed Kiev, as he complains.
Russian anti -aircraft defense units destroyed a total of 95 Ukrainian drones over 13 regions overnight, the defense ministry said.
For its part, the Russian Civil Protection Office Rosaviatsia announced that flights have been suspended for hours at various airports in the country.
Ukrainian drones also targeted an industrial operation in the city of Shizran, southern Russia, as the Governor of the Region Samara Viacev Fedorischev said, although he added that there were no injuries.
Ukraine’s new attacks, a former Soviet Republic, were launched as the country is celebrating 34 years of its independence today.
“The Ukrainian people will never surrender and will never deny their independence.”; Ukrainian army chief Olxandr Sirski underlined this morning on the occasion of this anniversary.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Antriy Sibicha described the country’s independence as “a cornerstone of Europe’s security”.
