Russian forces have launched an unstoppable attack along almost the entire line of the Front in Ukraine and maintain the “strategic initiative”, said the leader of the Russian National Defense General Staff today.

“The joint group of troops continues an uninterrupted attack along almost the entire line of the front,” General Valeri Gerasimov said in a message to his deputy chiefs released by the Russian Ministry of Defense. “At the moment, the strategic initiative is completely in Russian forces.”

Russia has intensified air raids against Ukrainian cities far behind the lines of the front this summer and continues an attack on the eastern part, attempting to occupy more territories in the War in Ukraine, which lasts for three and a half years.

Russian attacks on the Ukraine capital, Kiev, killed at least 25 people on Thursday and injured 38, according to Ukrainian officials.

The blows took place less than two weeks after US President Donald Trump welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting in Alaska, a meeting that Washington hoped would boost his efforts to end the war.

Gerasimov said Russia had 76 targeted attacks on Ukrainian military-industrial installations this spring and summer, focusing on the destruction of sites where large-scale missile systems and unmanned aircraft were produced.

He argued that Moscow currently has 99.7% control of Luhansk’s eastern region, 79% of Donetsk’s eastern region, 74% of Zaporizia’s region and 76% of the Hersona region.

According to him, Russia has occupied more than 3,500 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory since March and has control of 149 villages.

Russian forces this month began to push towards the southeastern Dnipropterovsk region. Gerasimov said that seven villages in this area are now under Russian control.
