Kyiv: Ukrainian forces retake at least 30 settlements on the outskirts of Kiev

by

More from 30 settlements in the greater Kiev region have recaptured Ukrainian troops, said on Saturday adviser to the President of Ukraine.

Ukraine has already recaptured the cities of Butsa and Brovary.

Russian forces have also left the Hostomel airport near Kyiv, the UK Ministry of Defense has announced.

However, Volodymyr Zelensky warned the residents of these fleeing cities not to return to their homelands soon. He explained that there was a threat of more bombings there and pointed out that many houses were still mined.

Russia said earlier this week it would drastically reduce its military operations around Kyiv and Chernihiv and analysts expect it to focus on eastern Ukraine. The Pentagon has warned of a “prolonged” conflict in eastern Ukraine that could last for months.

However, according to local authorities in Enherkhodar, Russian forces bombed another part of the city today, four wounded in the attack.

In southeastern Ukraine, Mariupol remains strategically disputed on both sides, and the humanitarian situation there is catastrophic.

According to the latest estimates, about 160,000 people are still trapped inside the city, the occupation of which would allow the Russians to secure a territorial continuity, from Crimea to the two breakaway pro-Russian republics of Donbass.
