Ferrero: Recalls chocolate eggs in Britain and Ireland shortly before Easter

by

Ferrero International is recalling batches of its popular Easter chocolate eggs in the United Kingdom and Ireland over possible links to a number of reported salmonella cases.

The revocation is valid for Kinder Surprise eggs dated between 11 July and 7 October, refers to the company announcement. The company works with the UK Food Standards Agency and the Food Safety Authority of Ireland to work to ensure that these products are no longer available for purchase.

For people who have already bought eggs, Ferrero advised not to eat them.

“Although none of the Kinder products on the market have tested positive for salmonella and we have not received any consumer complaints, we take it very seriously, as consumer care is our top priority,” the company said in a statement.

Ferrero, whose brands include Nutella, Butterfinger and Crunch, said the recalled eggs were made in Belgium.
