British Foreign Minister Ivet Cooper is expected to go to Kiev on Friday, to her first visit abroad since she was appointed to the post, confirming Britain’s commitment to Ukraine for a winter support of $ 142 million (192.7 million).

Coop is going to meet with the president Volodimir Zelenski and senior Ukrainian officials, who will re -confirm Britain’s commitment to Ukraine’s defense over Russian aggression, the government said.

‘Ukraine’s security is vital to the security of the United Kingdom’, Cooper said in a statement.

The extra funding package, part of a June aid program, includes £ 100m in humanitarian aid for frontline communities and £ 42m to repair and protect critical energy systems targeted by Russian raids.

Her visit comes amid increased tensions after the invasion of Russian unmanned aircraft into NATO’s airspace in Poland.

Britain has announced Wednesday plans for mass production of Ukrainian design of unmanned intercept aircraft, which will help to deal with Russian missiles and unmanned aircraft as part of a wider UK-based defensive effort.
