A woman held in a prison in Iran for six months on the charge of writing anti -government messages, died today after being hospitalized in a comatose state, according to human rights protection organizations.
Iranian state television has announced death at Somayh Rasidi Hospital, 42, saying it was due to medical problems it had before arresting it in April.
According to the Hengaw organization, based in Norway, the deterioration of her health is due to repeated refusals to provide her with medical care during her detention in Kartsak, an infamous female prison in the outskirts of Tehran.
“The negligence exacerbated its situation, causing convulsions and coma,” Hengaw said in a press release, recalling that Somayh Rasidi had been arrested after writing slogans in favor of anti -government demonstrations in a district.
According to Iranian justice, cited on Iranian television, Somayh Rasidi, who had already been arrested in 2022, then in 2023, accused he belonged to the exiled opposition organization of the people of the people, banned in Iran.
“She was seriously ill in prison, but despite repeated calls for other prisoners to be taken to the hospital, the prison authorities refused until she lost consciousness and sank in a coma,” said NGO Iran Human Rights (IHR).
Human Rights Activists News Agency, based in US -based news agency, also accused prison officials of delaying the hospital without providing her with the necessary first aid.
At least 1,000 deaths have been executed in Iran since the beginning of the year, according to an account published by IR on Tuesday, which denounces a “slaughter campaign” in Iranian prisons.
