A 48 -year -old man drowned today in the Esta, in western France and another was killed in a traffic accident because of the heavy winds accompanying the stormthe local authorities said.

The 48 -year -old had gone to the Esta in the morning but was dragged by the waves due to adverse weather conditions and was not rescued, according to the Fire Brigade.

In northern France, a driver, a 25 -year -old man, was killed by a tree fall in a vehicle, and his passenger was seriously injured.

The five northern provinces of France, as well as that of Saint-Marym, have been on an orange alarm in the afternoon due to the storm of Amy that hit Britain and Ireland in the past few days, leaving behind one dead.

About 5,000 households were left without electricity in the morning in the Normandy area. The electricity had been restored at noon to 3,000 of them, but in the afternoon the winds were reinforced and new holidays were caused.

Authorities are urging drivers on motorways to reduce their speed.

The storm is expected to fade later tonight, according to the Météo-France Weather Service.
