THE Steven King (Stephen King), one of the most famous thriller and horror book authors, is the most “forbidden” author who is most likely to be censored in the US, according to a new report on Pen America’s book bans.

The “Banned In the USA” exhibition monitors more than 6,800 cases of books that have been temporarily or permanently withdrawn for the school year 2024-2025.

Steven King’s books censored 206 timesaccording to Pen America, with “Carrie” and “The Stand” being among his 87 works that were influenced.

The most forbidden A writer’s work was the dystopian classic work of Anthony Berges since the 1960s, “A Clockwork Orange“, for which PEN found 23 removes.

Other books and authors who encountered extensive restrictions were “Sold“Patricia Makoriki, the”Forever“of Judy Bloom and the”Breathless“of Jennifer Niven, as well as many of her works Sarah J. Mahogany and her Judy Piculture, According to a Thr report.

‘The reasons frequently mentioned for the withdrawal of a book include LOATKI ITE. An ongoing trend found by PEN has only intensified: Thousands of books have been withdrawn from the shelves pending community, political or legal pressure and not in response to an immediate threat. “This acts as a form of” obedience in advance “,” the report states, “which has its roots in fear or simply the desire to avoid issues that could be considered controversial.”

The new number is reduced compared to the period 2023-2024, when more than 10,000 books were banned, but it is still much higher than levels a few years ago, when the Union did not even see the need to write a report.

About 80% of the prohibitions came from just three states that have established or attempted to adopt laws seeking the removal of books considered unacceptable – Florida, Texas and Tennessee.

In the meantime, Pen America has noticed little or no cases of booking of books in several other states, with Illinois, Maryland and New Jersey between those by laws that limit the power of school and public libraries to withdraw books.
