Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his country “needs” an additional 25 US anti-aircraft systems to help counter Russian strikes, days after he visited Washington.

Zelensky announced at a press conference that he “held talks with defense industry companies” to “prepare a contract for 25 Patriot systems.”

“We need 25 systems,” he said.

Zelensky also said he would be willing to travel to Budapest, where Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump are expected to meet, if a tripartite meeting is proposed.

Meanwhile, Ukraine, whose natural gas infrastructure has been severely damaged by Russian attacks, may import about $2 billion worth of natural gas this winter, including from Europe, the United States and Azerbaijan, Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president said that US liquefied natural gas (LNG) could be supplied through terminals in Poland and Greece, while in the future Ukraine could build its own terminal in cooperation with American companies, Reuters notes.
