A single-engine plane with three Brazilians on board disappeared yesterday, around 17:00 (Brasilia time), in the Patagonian province of Chubut, in southern Argentina.

UOL confirmed that businessman Antônio Carlos de Castro Ramos, from the Santa Catarina construction company ACCR, was on the aircraft, as well as doctor Gian Carlo Nercolini and lawyer Mário Pinho.

In the records of Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency), the aircraft, a single-engine Van’s Aircraft RV-10, code PP-ZRT and manufactured in 2016, is listed as in good standing and owned by Antônio Carlos de Castro Ramos.

The aircraft departed this Wednesday (6) from the city of El Calafate, in the extreme south of Argentina, bound for Trelew, on the north coast of Chubut, but lost contact with the monitoring centers at the height of Bahía Bustamante, also located in province, according to the local Civil Defense.

Searches for the aircraft are being carried out both on land and at sea.

The Argentine maritime police were called to assist in the search, having sent a helicopter to the region. Ramos’ family is heading to Argentina to follow the activities closely.

“For now, there is no news and no traces. We are fully hopeful that the plane has managed to land, in case it has suffered a malfunction,” said Chubut Civil Defense director José Mazzei, in a record by the news agency Télam, linked to the Argentine government.

Also according to Mazzei, Brazilians were in Argentina for an aircraft festival that took place in Comodoro Rivadavia, Chubut’s most populous city.

From Friday (1) to Sunday (3), the city hosted the event Comodoro Vuela (Comodoro Voa, in Portuguese translation), held at the local air club.
