Kyiv launches 5,600 war crimes investigations – New Russian strike at Dnipro airport

by

Ukraine has started 5,600 war crimes investigations allegedly committed on its territory after the Russian invasion began, Ukrainian Attorney General Irina Venediktova told the British television network Sky News today.

Describing Russian President Vladimir Putin as a “key war criminal of the 21st century,” the Ukrainian attorney general said 5,600 cases of alleged war crimes and 500 Russian war criminals had been identified.

He referred mainly to the attack on the Kramatorsk railway station (east) during which 52 civilians including five children were killed in a blow attributed to a Russian rocket.

“Absolutely, it is a war crime,” Benedict said, saying it has “evidence” that Russia is behind the attack. “These people just wanted to be saved, they wanted to get away.”

He thanked British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who paid a surprise visit to Kyiv on Saturday, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and promised to provide new weapons to Ukraine.

“It’s a really big support for us,” Venediktova said, referring to Johnson’s first visit to Ukraine by an official of the Group of Seven (G7) after the invasion began.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba called on scientists to study the effects of Russian propaganda, which he said had paved the way for atrocities in Bouka.

“Bouka did not happen in one day. “For many years, Russian political elites and Russian propaganda incited hatred, dehumanized Ukrainians, nurtured Russian supremacy and prepared the ground for these atrocities,” Kuleba wrote on Twitter.

“I urge researchers around the world to look at what led to Bouka,” he said.
