London, Thanassis Gavos
Queen Elizabeth made her first appearance after recent health problems.
Videos and photos show her standing up and talking to British Army Chief of Staff General Sir Nick Carter, to whom she gave a hearing at Windsor Castle.
The Queen did not attend Sunday’s annual Sunday Remembrance Ceremony in central London, an event commemorating the victims of the war.
According to a statement from Buckingham Palace just hours before the ceremony, the queen had suffered a back injury and with “great sadness” and “disappointment” could not attend.
It was only the seventh time in her 69-year reign that she did not attend the ceremony. Both were in advanced pregnancy and the rest were abroad.
By the end of October, it had become known that the 95-year-old queen had received a medical recommendation for rest, which followed her overnight stay in a London clinic and led to the cancellation of her obligations.
In a letter read by her son Prince Edward at the Anglican General Assembly on Tuesday, the queen commented that “no one can slow down the passage of time”.
It was the first time in 51 years of the ecclesiastical assembly that the queen was absent.
