At least 16 people were injured this morning (local time) at 36th Street Underground Station in Brooklyn Sunset Park, when rifle shots were heard in the New York subway, causing scenes of chaos with police looking for a suspect. Explosive devices were found at the scene, authorities said.
THE President Joe Bidenwho announced new measures against gun ownership yesterday Monday, was informed of the incident and the White House offered help to the New York authorities, said White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki.

Another video shows people getting out of train cars, amid screams and smoke.
“At 8:27 a.m., police were called in for an emergency with a man being hit by a bullet in the subway,” a New York City police spokesman told AFP, urging the public to evacuate.
According to a spokesman for the fire brigade, “several shots were fired” and “16 people were injured”.. The initial estimate spoke of 13 injured.
