The Greek businessman who lives there, Giannis Tzoganakis, spoke to SKAI about the situation in Shanghai and the unimaginable images that are making the rounds of the world after the decision to impose a very strict lockdown.
Mr. Tzoganakis stated that things are difficult, typically stating that “in China they do not play with these things”, summing up that if a citizen is considered to have to leave his home and go to a quarantine center, he can not do otherwise.
As Mr. Tzoganakis described, his wife has thyroid, so he had run out of drugs now and has her treatment, after ordering it online, three weeks later.
In Shanghai it is now difficult to travel and service with delivery while in terms of food, there is food if one had taken care to get food, long ago.
In any case, Mr. Tzoganakis expressed his hope that things will gradually improve as shopping is now somewhat easier.
«You can not leave your home. They distribute food but of course you have to be lucky. This is the truth. That is, if there is no delivery, you will never get food“, He said specifically, giving as an example the fact that he has ordered food that has not arrived for a week.
“Certainly older people have a bigger problem as they are not familiar with the technology,” he said.
According to Mr. Tzoganakis, the problem is summed up in the fact that the Chinese state has not taken care to provide a sufficient amount of means to the citizens, in order to be able to observe such a harsh lockdown.
«They brought us a box of things to understandHe said characteristically describing that this box had various vegetables, some meat, something very basic for a human to eat.
In all the residential complexes there are entrance and exit gates in which there are security guards and they prevent the exit of the residents. If anyone tries to bypass them, then they call the authorities, he described.
“Whoever tries it does not do well, that is for sure,” he stressed.
It is worth noting that the Greek businessman said that in these difficult times for the Chinese city, citizens are trying to the extent that it is possible to support each other.
Indicatively, he mentioned that he and his neighbors have formed groups and are in constant communication, supplying each household with products that it may need.
The situation in Shanghai, however, is predicted to remain as it is for several more days, as Mr. Tzoganakis said, updates want the lockdown to last at least until the end of May.
«No we can not stand it but we can not do anything else, there is no other solution“, he said.
In any case, the Greek businessman confirmed the general climate of suspicion that prevails, stating that some people really suspect that a new mutation may have been identified.
«Now of course many say that Chinese vaccines are not as good as the rest but no matter how we do it China now wants to have the Zero Policy». (No cases in the country).
The Greek businessman expressed the question of everyone in the country about why the government proceeded to such a severe lockdown, since the virus now seems to be milder, typically giving the example that out of 250,000 cases, 230,000 are asymptomatic.
