Almost everyone who was found dead in the city of Boukanear the Ukrainian capital, were killed by gunfire, said today the chief of police of the Kiev region, Andriy Nebitov.
“95% of people were shot with high-precision rifles or other light weapons” in this northwestern suburb of Kiev, the official said during a press conference.
“During the (Russian) occupation, people were shot in the streets (…) In the 21st century, it is impossible for such crimes to remain hidden. “Not only did witnesses see this, but they were also recorded on video.”
French gendarmes are currently working in Bouka, together with Ukrainian researchers, to set up a process of examining and identifying the bodies.
The residents of Bouka buried the victims themselves during the occupation of the city by the Russian army, which finally withdrew on March 30, after almost a month of presence.
According to the mayor of Bouka, Anatoly Fedoruka total of more than 400 bodies have been found in his city after the withdrawal of Russian military forces.
A few days after the withdrawal of Russian troops, French Agency reporters saw 20 bodies of men dressed in civilian clothes, one with his hands tied, and bodies scattered on a street. Dozens of other bodies have been discovered since then, as well as many in mass graves.
The Bukha massacres sparked worldwide outrage and condemnation and prompted Kiev’s allies to impose new sanctions on Russia.
