Biden meets with allies: New sanctions and heavier arms shipment to Ukraine

The American president Joe Biden discussed today with the US allies the latest developments regarding the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the White House announced.

This discussion, via video call, started at 9.57 (Washington time, 16.57 Greek time), with Biden in the White House Business Room.

The purpose of this communication was “to discuss our continued support for Ukraine and the efforts to hold Russia accountable, in the context of our close coordination,” the statement added.

In addition to Biden, the video call was attended by the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trinto, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Layen, the President of the European Council Charles Michel, the French President Emanuel Macron, the Chancellor of Germany Olaf Schroel Draghi, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, the Presidents of Poland and Romania, Andrei Duda and Klaus Johannes, and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

According to reports, new sanctions against Russia and the shipment of heavier weapons to Ukraine were discussed.
