Zelensky: Russia rejected the proposal for a truce during Easter

by

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said tonight that Russia had rejected a proposal for a truce during Orthodox Easter.

The Ukrainian president, however, said in a videotaped message that he still hoped for peace.

The same timecauses horror the assessment of the local municipal authority of Mariupol that three to nine thousand civilians may have been buried in a mass grave near the city.

“In the village of Manhous, the invaders may have buried between 3,000 and 9,000 residents of Mariupol. This is supported by the comparison with satellite photos of a mass grave in Boutsa, where 70 bodies were found. In photos taken on April 9 by (US private company) Maxar, the mass burial site in Manchus is 20 times larger. The conquerors dug continuously and buried corpses in the following days. “Our sources report that in such graves the bodies lie on different levels (layers)”, the city council of Mariupol states in the Telegram.

The mayor of the besieged Mariupol Vadim Boitshenko compared the “crimes” of the Russians with the massacre of tens of thousands of people in Babi Yar by the Nazis during World War II.

“The greatest war crime of the 21st century was committed in Mariupol. It’s the new Babi Yar. Hitler then killed Jews, Roma and Slavs. Today Putin is exterminating Ukrainians. He has already killed tens of thousands of civilians in Mariupol. A strong reaction is needed from all over the civilized world. “This genocide must be stopped by all means,” Boichenko said.

The Mariupol city council had reported in mid-March that about 5,000 civilians had been buried in public places in and around the city. He estimates that more of 22,000 civilians killed by the Russian army in the besieged port city of southern Ukraine.
