Turkey ready to provide all possible assistance during the negotiation process between Ukraine and Russia, the President said. Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, during a telephone conversation, was announced today by the Turkish presidency.
Erdogan said the evacuation of the wounded and civilians from Mariupol must be ensured, adding that Turkey has a positive view of the guarantor country in the first place. Ukraine seeks security guarantees from various countries during the talks.
For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that he had talked with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, ahead of the Turkish president’s talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Zelensky said he and Erdogan discussed the need for an immediate evacuation of civilians from Mariupol, including the Azofstal plant, and the exchange of Ukrainian troops fortified at the plant.
