The United States investigates recent violence in breakaway Moldovan-backed Transnistrian region, says Tuesday US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
“We are not really sure what all this means, but it is something we will focus on.”said Austin.
According to local authorities, several attacks have taken place in Transnistria in the last twenty-four hours. A military unit was initially targeted, then exploded at the Transnistrian state security headquarters, while two explosions damaged two old Soviet-era radio antennas broadcast by a Russian station.
Washington welcomes German shipment of heavy weapons to Ukraine
The US government today welcomed Germany’s decision to send heavy weapons to Ukraine for the first time.
“I think it’s important that Germany announced that is going to deliver 50 Cheetah systemsSaid US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin after talks with his counterparts in Rammstein, Germany, calling the Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft systems by their English name.
The US Secretary of State estimated that these anti-aircraft systems will significantly strengthen Ukraine’s defense.
“As for what else Germany might do in the future, I will say again that this is a sovereign decision to be made by the German leadership and I do not want to speculate on that,” Austin added.
