Two British Volunteers providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine are being held by Russian military forces, a British aid organization has said.

The non-profit organization Presidium Network announced that the two men were arrested at a checkpoint near the city of Zaporizhia.

The two volunteers were named by the organization as Paul Yurey and Dylan Hill.

They are said to have been trying to evacuate a family from the Dnipro area Ukrainiansacting of their own free will and independently of aid organizations in the area.

The members of this family, who eventually ended up in Poland, are said to have been interrogated by the Russian authorities for their relationship with the two “British spies”, as Russian military officials described them.

The Foreign Office stated that he is urgently seeking more details.

The case of the two volunteers comes a day after the announcement of the death of a former member of the British Armed Forces Scott Simbley who fought as a volunteer in the ranks of the Ukrainian forces. Another British man believed to have fought against the Russians is missing.
