A wild fox managed to invade him Washington Zoo and kill twenty-five pink flamingos and a skewer, as became known by the management of the foundation today.

“On the morning of May 2, bird sanctuaries found the flamingos dead and spotted a fox outside,” the Smithsonian National Zoo said.

The fox managed to escape. Before the attack the swarm of flamingo had 74 members.

“It’s a tragic loss for all those who love animals,” said zoo director Brady Smith. “The fence we use has passed the inspection and is used by other zoos across the country”he added, adding that the aim now is to ensure that security measures are strengthened so as not to endanger other animals.

A female fox had upset the US capital in April when it attacked passers-by near the Capitol and even bit an elected official. The fox was euthanized and found to be a carrier of rabies, according to health authorities.
