Several Ukrainian cities were targeted by Russian missiles tonight, destroying mainly three power plants in Lviv, according to the mayor of this large city in the west of the country, which now has a partial power outage.

At least one person was injured, he added. According to Ukrainian media, power outages have affected several neighborhoods in Lviv. Bombings were also reported by local authorities in Vinnytsia (central), Odessa (southwestern) and Kirovograd (central), without reporting any damage.

The Transcarpathian region, which borders Hungary in western Ukraine and has so far escaped bombing, has been hit for the first time since the start of the Russian invasion on 24 February.

“A rocket landed in a mountainous region of the Transcarpathia. The services are working on the spot, we are clarifying the information about the injured and the possible victims,” the governor of this region, Victor Mikita, told Telegram.

Some trains will be delayed, explaining that trains have been stopped at the entrance to Lviv.

The city mayor said parts of it were without electricity, explaining that as a result of the bombing, two electricity substations were damaged.

“Everyone stay in the shelters,” he told the Telegram in a brief post.

CNN reporters heard the blasts coming from east, south and west of the city center. One of the locations is close to the city center.

From another location, farther away, a huge column of black smoke seemed to rise in the sky.

Smoke continues to fall across the city, with the biggest fire burning west of the city center.

According to Ukrainian reports, Russian forces fired rockets at other parts of the country.

More specifically, two missiles hit targets southwest of the city of Vinnytsia, while missiles aimed at the Kiev region were intercepted by the Ukrainian anti-missile system.
