The Kremlin denies that Putin will declare war on Ukraine on May 9

The Kremlin today rejected speculation that the president Vladimir Putin plans to preach him war in Ukraine and national mobilization on May 9anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union during World War II.

Commenting on rumors that on May 9 Putin will declare war on Ukrainethe representative of the Kremlin Dmitry Peshkov stated: «There is no possibility of such a thing. It is nonsense».

Peshkov also said that Russia is considering various options in preparation for the embargo in its oil to be imposed by the European Union.

The head of the European Commission today proposed one gradual oil embargo against Russiaimposing sanctions on its top bank and banning Russian television broadcasts on European frequencies.

The Kremlin spokesman also said that no agreement reached on possible meeting between Putin and Pope Francis to talk about Ukraine.

Pope Francis said in an interview published Tuesday that he had asked to meet with Putin in Moscow to try to end the war in Ukraine, but had received no response.
