Thessaloniki: Intensive checks at the playgrounds and SED after the accident of the 8-year-old

In the morning, crews of the Municipality of Thessaloniki carried out intensive inspections in playgrounds in order to check the premises and to repair any damage, as he characteristically said the Deputy Mayor of Technical Works Ephraim Kyrizidis, outside the playground in Xarchakou Park. At the same time, analogous inspections will be carried out by the end of May and a company that undertakes the certification of playgrounds.

Asked about the causes that caused the injury of the 8-year-old, Mr. Kyrizidis said: “We do not know yet. We also ordered a sworn administrative examination, at the same time as the prosecution. We have asked the experts, the certified company and the manufacturer of the toy to tell us their own version, while the police procedure and the prosecutor’s order are “running”. For all this, in the coming weeks we will have sufficient explanations and findings that will give us a clear answer “.

Asked about the complaints that existed for damage to the specific playground of Nea Paralia, the deputy mayor replied that two days before the accident the municipal crew was at the scene and “removed an instrument that the supervisor found to have a problem, in another slide. What happened to the complaint, what did the crews do, if there was a defect and they did not see it, everything is being checked at the moment. “Everything will come out of the findings.”

Mr. Kyrizidis added that everyone’s interest is focused on restoring the health of the 8-year-old and reiterated that the mayor and the municipal authority are in constant contact with the girl’s family.
