It was a reference to this year’s Oscars, when Smith took the stage and slapped the comedian for a joke he had just made about the shaved head of his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who has alopecia. The incident resulted in Smith leaving the Academy Awards, which barred him from attending the Oscars for the next 10 years.
Chris Rock had stated that he was “processing” Will Smith’s slap shortly after the incident.
Dave Chapel was charged with assault Aizaia Lee 23 years old, who seems to have been injured by security in his hand. Footage shows the attacker being taken to hospital with a hand injury. Chapel was not injured, and even joked that the perpetrator “was a trans man”, provoking strong reactions.
