A man in South Carolina, USA, died of obstruction while trying to bury his partner in the garden of his house, whom he allegedly strangled.
Joseph McKinnon, 60, was found by police officers at the scene when a neighbor’s neighbor complained about a man lying unconscious in the backyard.
He is said to killed his partner63-year-old Patricia Dent, inside their house last Saturday.
When police entered the garden, they found McKinnon dead. They called for medical help, but the doctors could not bring the 60-year-old man back.
During their search, police found a second body in a freshly dug pit. The body was identified as Patricia Dent, authorities said.
The man appeared to have suffered a heart attack while covering the pit, authorities said. Investigators believe McKinnon attacked Dent inside the house. The autopsy showed that the 63-year-old died of strangulation.
According to Edgefield County Sheriff, McKinnon then wrapped Dent in bags before placing her in the pit he had previously dug in the yard.
Dent was supposed to be at work at the time and day she was killed. Colleagues reported that since the morning, the woman did not answer their messages and calls.
