It could be a script for a movie, but it’s a true story that fortunately had a happy ending.
A passenger on a small private jet managed to land safely at Florida airport, having no flight experience.
There was probably a health problem on the pilot and the passenger was forced to take matters into his own hands, with the air traffic service giving him instructions.
According to the LiveATC.net audio signal received by CNNithe man is heard saying:
“There is a serious situation here … The pilot is saying nonsense and I have no idea how to fly the plane.”
Then an air traffic controller started giving him instructions on landing.
“Try to keep the wings horizontal and see if you can start descending. “Push the controls forward and go down at a very slow pace,” the air traffic controller was heard to say to the man.
“Try to follow the coast either to the north or to the south. “We are trying to locate you,” he notes.
Another air traffic controller is heard telling other planes what has happened.
“You just saw some passengers landing on this plane,” the tower pilot told another American Airlines pilot waiting to take off for Charlotte, North Carolina.
“Did you say that the passengers landed the plane?” asked the American Airlines pilot. “Oh my God. Well done “, he noted.
Two people were riding in the single-engine Cessna 208 when the pilot had a medical problem, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.
There is no further information on the pilot’s condition, and an investigation has been launched into the incident.
