Pentagon: Turkey’s position in NATO has not changed due to Erdogan’s statements on Sweden – Finland

by

The United States is working to clarify comments made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on its accession. Finland and Sweden In NATO, however, Ankara’s position in the Alliance has not changed because of these statements, a Pentagon spokesman said Friday night.

“Nothing has changed “As for their position in the NATO alliance (…) we are working to better clarify (…) their position,” John Kirby told reporters.

Erdogan He said earlier that it was not possible for Turkey to support Sweden and Finland’s plans to join NATO because these Scandinavian countries “host many terrorist organizations”.

The President of Turkey found an opportunity for another “bargain” on the occasion of the accession of the two Scandinavian countries to NATO. Unification of the Allies is required for the two states to join the North Atlantic Alliance.

Saying “he does not see positively” threatens the accession of the two Nordic countries to NATO indirectly but clearly by veto, and seeks rewards.

As SKAI’s Istanbul correspondent Manolis Kostidis explains, analysts have commented that Tayyip Erdogan has “risen” twice in recent history – and lost.
