Gradual lifting of restrictive measures in Shanghai

by

Authorities in Shanghai will gradually lift the severe restrictive measures imposed to deal with the outbreak of Covid-19 cases, the deputy mayor of the Chinese capital announced on Sunday.

Specifically, from tomorrow Monday, some businesses will reopen, such as shopping malls and hairdressers, according to what he stated in a press conference.

China’s economic center, with a population of about 25 million, has remained in lockdown for more than six weeks as authorities try to stem the coronavirus outbreak.

The Chinese Ministry of Health announced earlier that in the past 24 hours in mainland China, 1,789 cases of coronavirus and three deaths due to complications of Covid-19 have been confirmed.

Officially, the pandemic count in the giant Asian state, from where the global health crisis began about two years ago, has reached 5,209 dead out of a total of 221,804 infections. However, the report is generally considered to be undervalued by experts.
