According to the Italian newspaper The Republica Russian ship with 146 passengers, many of whom are said to be spies, located in the south of Sicily. This is the ship Vasily Tatishchev, known in NATO by the code Meridian95 meters long.
According to La Repubblica and an Italian defense website, most of the people on board are Russian spies who specialize in tracking and analyzing messages sent by “Russia-friendly countries”via radar.
The Italian media emphasize that the Meridian is located in the north of Tunisia and that monitors – as everything shows – NATO exercise “Mare Aperto” (Offshore) which will be in progress until May 27, with the participation of over 30 ships and submarines and a large number of aircraft.
As early as January 24, a French navy frigate had intervened to remove the Meridian from the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier, which had just sailed from Toulon in southern France.
