ELSTAT: Greek exports to Ukraine and Russia collapse – Trade deficit in deficit

As, according to ELSTATthe value of imports from Russia amounted to 532.8 million euros, noting increase 69.1% compared to March 2021 (315.1 million euros), while the value of exports amounted to 5.4 million euros, noting decrease 66.1% compared to March last year (€ 16 million).

The first quarter of this year, The value of imports from Russia amounted to 1.7 billion euros, recording an increase of 131.4% compared to the period January-March 2021 (732 million euros), while the value of exports amounted to 34.2 million euros, recording a decrease of 15.8% compared to the first quarter last year (EUR 40.6 million). Thus, the trade balance was negative to the detriment of Greece by 1.66 billion euros.

Regarding trade between Greece and UkraineIn March, the value of imports from this country amounted to 10 million euros, down 45% compared to March 2021 (18.2 million euros), while the value of Greek exports amounted to 1 million euros, down 91% from March last year (€ 10.8 million). As a result, the trade balance was in deficit and amounted to EUR 9 million.

In the first quarter, the value of imports from Ukraine amounted to 54.3 million euros, an increase of 33.5% compared to the period January-March 2021 (40.7 million euros), while the value of Greek exports amounted to 24.2 million euros, an increase of 5.2% compared to the first quarter last year (23 million euros). Thus, the trade balance was negative to the detriment of our country and amounted to 30.1 million euros.
