The launches of residential properties in Brazil in the third quarter rose 7% compared to the second quarter and 13.6% compared to the period from July to September 2020. However, sales declined in both comparisons, with the sector manifesting concern with the increase in the cost of construction materials and with the drop in the population’s purchasing power with the increase in the cost of financing.
According to figures released this Monday (22) by the Brazilian Chamber of Construction Industry (Cbic), data for the year, however, indicate that 2021 should close as the year with the highest sales and launches in the history of the sector.
Launches of 171,000 units in the first nine months of the year represent an increase of 37.6% over a year earlier, while sales of BRL 78.5 billion in the PSV metric represent a growth of 33.8% in the same comparison.
“This year we are going to close with hiring 350,000, 400,000 new jobs because we have sold very well in recent months, and we had already increased 10% last year. But tomorrow’s job needs today’s sale, and it has fallen,” he said. the president of Cbic, José Carlos Martins, in an interview with journalists.
He referred to sales drops of 11.2% in the third quarter over the three months immediately previous and 9.5% compared to the period from July to September 2020.
The organization said that it recorded a “sales inflection” in the third quarter, mainly driven by an increase in production costs that was not accompanied by adjustments in the maximum price limits of the government program Casa Verde Amarela, which until then represented most of the sales of units in the country.
According to Cbic, the adjustments recently implemented in the federal program will take effect from the fourth quarter. The entity also informed that the inflation of construction materials measured by the INCC “indicates that we will have price increases [de imóveis] us next quarters “.
