Auxílio Brasil card begins to be delivered; see who will receive

The new Auxílio Brasil card began to be delivered to beneficiaries across the country at the end of June, according to the Ministry of Citizenship. In all, 3.2 million chip cards were issued, which are being gradually distributed to beneficiaries.

Citizens can use it to make automatic debit purchases and withdraw part or all of the benefit at Caixa and 24-hour banks. Replacing the old Bolsa Família cards —which are still valid— should cost around R$130 million. The measure is part of an effort by the current government before the elections.

Citizens who joined the Auxílio Brasil program, which replaced Bolsa Família, in December 2021, have priority in receiving them. In all, 6.6 million families should receive the new card. The intention, however, is to replace the card for everyone.

To monitor the shipment, the beneficiary can call Caixa’s call center at 4004-0104, for capitals and metropolitan regions, or 0800-1040104, for other regions. It is also possible to find out information at bank branches.

According to the Ministry of Citizenship, the issuance of new cards aims to increase security in transactions and end “the need for families to move to payment channels that are sometimes restricted to the headquarters of neighboring municipalities or municipalities”, to who live in smaller cities.

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE AUXÍLIO BRASIL CARD?

The new Auxílio Brasil card does not need to be requested. It is distributed free of charge to those who are already in the program. The preference is for those who entered in December 2021. The others continue with the Bolsa Família card, which can only be used to withdraw the benefit. There are other ways to receive assistance:

• Digital social savings
• checking account
• Special demand deposit account
• Accounting account, through the program’s social platform

According to the government, the benefit will be credited to the accounting account only when the citizen does not have any of the other types of bank accounts or when there are technical impediments to crediting the amounts.

Citizen must register password

To register the password for the new card, it is necessary to call the Caixa Auxílio Brasil Customer Service on 111. The card numbers, NIS, RG and CPF may be requested.

After registering by phone, you need to go to a lottery or Caixa branch with your ID card to complete the operation. On the spot, inform that you will do “Registration / re-registration”.

Aid Brazil of R$ 600 should start being paid in August

Aid Brazil of at least R$ 600 must start being paid in August, according to the PEC (proposed amendment to the Constitution) that deals with the measure. The larger amount will have five installments, only until December. In January 2023, it should go back to BRL 400.

In June, 18.2 million families received the benefit. In July, Citizenship has not yet informed the total number of beneficiaries. The intention is to include citizens who are currently in the official queue and pay the aid to 19.8 million starting in August.

This month, the payment of the aid, still in the amount of R$ 400, will start on the 18th, for those who have NIS (Social Identification Number) final 1.

BENEFICIARIES CAN RECEIVE UP TO BRL 720

Whoever wins the Auxílio Brasil and is also entitled to the Auxílio Gás – around 5.7 million families today – must withdraw R$ 720 in August, October and December, as provided for in the PEC. The gas voucher should rise to R$ 120, but it is only released every two months.

The voucher paid by the federal government is currently 50% of the average price of a 13 kg cooking gas cylinder in the country, in the last six months, according to a survey by the ANP (Agência Nacional de Petróleo, Gás Natural e Biocombustíveis). The amount paid in June was R$53.

Under the PEC, the benefit would be R$ 120, paid every two months. The extra cost of the measure, implemented after a project by deputy Carlos Zaratini (PT-SP), is R$ 1.05 billion. According to the proposal, the extra amount will be valid from July 1 to December 31, 2022.

There are also other measures provided for by the PEC, including diesel aid for truck drivers, ethanol subsidy for states that zero ICMS (Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services) and subsidy for free transport for the elderly.
