The national industry’s conflict against imports in the electric bus market was brought to Senate President Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) by union leaders this Thursday (7th).
Pacheco received the secretary general of Força Sindical, João Carlos Gonçalves, Juruna, Sérgio Nobre, president of CUT, and Aroaldo Silva, from Industriall (entity that brings together the two centrals), who went to ask for support to the agenda and talk about the risk of layoffs.
They took a document that criticizes a request filed this year at the Ministry of Economy by the ICCT (an organization for energy efficiency in transport) to eliminate the import tax on electric buses.
According to the president of Industriall, the measure would stimulate the importation of vehicles from China and would inhibit investments in Brazil, disturbing the debate on the electrification of fleets by the national industry. He claims that each bus impacts 4 direct jobs.
“In the conversation, the idea came up of organizing a working group to discuss this issue in the Senate, with the participation of businessmen from the industrial sector and workers”, says Aroaldo Silva.
