Income tax will be paid this year in 8 monthly installments starting from July until February 2023. A lump sum payment by July 29 is accompanied by a 3% tax deduction.

16 days before the end of the deadline for submission of tax returns and the rate of completion of E1s is indulgently sluggish. About 1.8 million taxpayers are so far refusing to hit the submit button.
In order to ….come out the numbers are required to be submitted every day about 100,000 statements when the average so far since March 30 when the platform opened is only about 44,000.
The tax experts’ federation requested in a letter from the Minister of Finance, Christos Staikouras and the Commander of AADE, George Pitsilis, extension of the deadline until September 29. In the letter they cite workload from the various government benefits platforms, changes in labor issues such as the second increase in the minimum wage and delays in decisions that give interpretations and instructions.
If it is finally decided to grant the extension, the 2nd for this year, it is more likely that it will be until the end of August and that the first 2 installments will be paid together, which has happened again. However, in the event of an extension, many taxpayers will be excluded from fuel pass 3, as the income criteria of the aid are calculated based on this year’s tax returns.
As far as the progress of the tax declarations is concerned, approximately 4.6 million taxpayers have finalized the E1.
Based on the processing of the data so far:
- 53.2% of the declarations, i.e. 2,447,297 are zero.
- 13.8%, i.e. 634,706 declarations have a tax refund totaling 235.1 million. euro. The average refund amounts to 370 euros and is increased by 32.5% compared to the corresponding amount in 2021, which was 279 euros.
- Debts – i.e. the payment of additional amounts beyond the monthly deductions – are 1,517,775 statements and correspond to 33% of the total. The total tax to be paid is €1.56 billion. The average tax amounts to 1,025 euros, a little higher than last year which was 966 euros.
Without further ado, income tax will be paid this year in 8 monthly installments starting from July until February 2023. Any lump sum repayment by July 29 comes with a 3% tax credit. The opposite is given the possibility of affiliation in the fixed arrangement of 24 interest installments, while the taxpayer can pay by credit card in 12 interest-free installments.
