Abrasel-SP (Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants in São Paulo) asked the city hall for more time to adapt to the ban on plastic straws in establishments in the capital.
The entity asks for 90 days and suggests the creation of an orientation campaign.
The decree published on Saturday (9) provides for a fine of up to BRL 8,000 or the closing of the site in case of systematic failure to comply with the determination.
Percival Maricato, director of AbraselSP, says that the entity is in favor of the measure. He also says he will encourage suppliers to replace plastic straws and advise customers to avoid using them.
