Mônica Bergamo: Managers denounce Caixa for moral harassment and report mental disorders to the entity

by

The National Federation of Caixa Managers Associations (Fenag) filed a class action with the Regional Labor Court of the 10th Region, in Brasília, against Caixa Econômica Federal for moral harassment. The case awaits trial.

Since 2019, more than nine letters reporting episodes of harassment and intimidation against employees who hold managerial positions have been sent to the bank’s management. Nothing has been done so far, according to the entity.

Anxiety disorders, depression and burnout syndrome are some of the illnesses developed by employees due to the supposed management model adopted by some Caixa units. Sought, the institution responded to us until the conclusion of this edition.

The cases came to the attention of Caixa’s retail network vice-presidency in 2019, through official letters that requested the adoption of urgent measures to solve the “regrettable institutional moral harassment”.

A Caixa manager in Teresina, for example, says she had only 30 minutes to accept a call and take over an agency located in Ceará, 500 km away from her residence. Another servant reports having suffered transfer and loss of function threats after refusing sexual advances in the work environment.

Fenag also claims that Caixa managers were instructed to delete social media posts with political positions to avoid retaliation, especially those that were critical of the current government.

At the end of 2019, hundreds of managers had to take a written exam with superficial questions. They did not correspond to the qualifications of the professionals and had a political bias, according to reports. One of them asked if the server agreed with the pension reform proposed by the federal government, then under the command of Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

They were also instructed to avoid red clothing and personal objects, such as ties, dresses, shoes and cell phone cases. What should be followed, according to complaints made to Fenag, was the “color palette of the Caixa”.

The lawsuit presented to the Labor Court also reports episodes involving the imposition of excessive productivity targets, the use of unofficial channels such as WhatsApp to collect charges, including during the night, and undue punishments to set an example of management.

Other cases of moral harassment at Caixa Econômica Federal have already come to light since Pedro Guimarães was denounced for sexual harassment. He left the presidency of the bank in June this year.

as showed the Sheet on Monday (18), dozens of Caixa employees who reached the top of their careers are working in bank branches or underused. As a result of the distortion, former directors with salaries of up to R$45,000 share the same functions with employees who have recently joined the bank, who earn around R$3,000.

Officials heard privately by the Sheet claim that they were the target of retaliation for having held high positions in the PT governments or for having had friction with the management of former president Pedro Guimarães. The case is being investigated by the MPT (Ministry of Labor).
