Portal da Editora Três is sold for R$ 15 million

by

The Editora Três portal was sold for R$ 15 million by Entre Empreendimentos, owned by businessman Antônio Carlos Freixo Junior. The winner of the auction finalized last week, and the only one who placed a bid, should also make millionaire contributions over the next ten years to develop the website that houses the magazines IstoÉ, IstoÉ Dinheiro, Dinheiro Rural and Motor Show, among 70 titles.

The conclusion of the sale of the domain on the internet depends on the approval of the Justice, since the auction is part of the publisher’s judicial recovery process, which started in 2020. The company’s accumulated debt is estimated at R$ 264 million, of which R$ 46 million in labor debts.

The São Paulo Journalists Union says it is not clear in the buying and selling process whether Entre Empreendimentos will keep the 25 journalists on the portal. There will be a meeting with the professionals, according to Thiago Tanji, president of the union.

In the coming days there will also be a meeting between the union and the labor creditors to define what will be done if a buyer does not appear for the property where the publishing house is located. According to the union, the property is valued at R$40 million, an amount that would settle around 600 labor debts.

Businessman Antônio Carlos Freixo Junior could not be reached by the report for comment. Editorial Three did not respond.
