João Caminoto launches news platform Curto News

by

Journalist João Caminoto, who worked for more than 30 years in vehicles such as SheetEstado de S. Paulo, BBC, Época and Veja, launched its new project, Curto News, of which it is founder and general director.

The content is already available through a website in beta, in a kind of “pre-launch”, and through various social networks. The official launch should happen soon.

According to Caminoto, Curto News is a journalistic product anchored in the changes brought about by the digital revolution and in the realization that most Brazilians value quality information, but, for various reasons, find it difficult to access it whenever and wherever they want.

Regarding the name of the product, the journalist says that he intends to offer his visitors the option of being informed quickly about different topics.

“But those — who we hope are the majority — who are not content with the short version of the news can expand their interest through our own content and the immense and rich virtual library offered by the internet, through our curatorship.”

The business model is based on advertising, sponsorships, branded content and special projects, with open and non-subscription content.

“There are tens of millions of Brazilians, especially the younger ones, who value and want to intensely follow what is happening in their tribe, city, nation, world. But they are not willing or able to pay for it. Unfortunately, they are thus more vulnerable to the corrosive effect of fake news, fake news”, says the journalist.
