Electricity bills: A new intervention is coming for fixed assets

by

Kostas Skrekas is expected to file legislation in Parliament today that will oblige supply companies to restore the balances on their electricity bills to the levels they were on July 4

The discomfort of the Ministry of Energy was caused by the trick chosen by electricity providers to mislead consumers, offering a low price per kilowatt hour, but high and scalable fixed rates, depending on consumption. In fact, in the analysis of the invoices carried out by RAE and delivered to the Ministry of the Interior, it is found that there are cases where the fixed price for a monthly consumption of 500 KWh can reach 90 euros.

The responsible minister Kostas Skrekas is expected to file legislation in Parliament today that will oblige supply companies to restore the balances on their electricity bills to the levels they were on July 4 and will also give a few days to adjust their tariffs in the context of the new legislation.

At the same time, and finding that the comparison of tariffs through the websites of the providers makes it difficult for consumers, RAE is preparing a special “window” on its website where on a monthly basis it will post all the tariffs in order to facilitate the choice of a provider.
